This is our second Christmas in our first home and I am slowly collecting my holiday décor. I am trying to keep our house as minimalistic as possible so I make sure our holiday decorations are purposeful and have meaning.
1.) The Christmas Tree- Through the years we have collected ornaments from significant milestones in our life and different places we have experienced/traveled together. Doesn’t matter what time of year -it was July, we were in Portugal and I bought a little ship from a small street shop for the tree. So come December when we decorate our tree, it is filled with our most treasured memories and it’s a wonderful way to start the Christmas season -going down memory lane. Below are a few of our favorites!
2.) Dining Room- Our first place we lived after we were married was a cute little basement suite. We didn’t have room for a big tree so we purchased a “pencil tree” that now sits in our dining room. This is a great way to fill a small space. We also have a simple garland box in the middle of our table. I added some candles and a string of lights from Costco to give it some sparkle!
3.) Kitchen- I love having fresh flowers and greenery in the kitchen! Costco is my go-to for beautiful flowers at a reasonable price. The geometric gold trees were last years finding at Homesense, I love the elegance and simplicity they add. My mini letterboard I found at Dollarama and changing up the quotes throughout the holiday is fun -even if it’s just myself who appreciates it!
So that about sums up our Christmas décor at this point, like I said, I don’t want to cram our house with Christmas junk, just to throw it out when I find something better. My goal is to buy meaningful and preferably local or handmade items whenever possible.
Merry Christmas Xx
